Annual Remember and Rejoice Ceremony

This annual ceremony at the St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC is an awesome event. It's a beautiful and touching rememberance service in honor of ALL Organ Donor Heroes (both, deceased and living donors). The church is packed with Donor families, recipients and their loved ones, and many others who are connected to organ donation and transplantation in some way. The ceremony also celebrates recipients. 🙏 I've attended many of these services virtually over the years, it's extremely moving and emotional indeed. I hope to attend in person someday, in honor of the donor hero who made life possible for me. His ❤️ lives inside of me and it is making it possible for me to thrive.

February 14th is Valentine's 💝 Day AND it's also designated as National Donor Day. 💕 💞

National Donor Day is a time to focus on all types of donation – organ, eye, tissue, blood, platelets and marrow – by participating in blood/marrow drives or donor registration events. It is also a day to appreciate donors and loved ones who have given the ♻️ Gift of Life ✅️ , have received a donation, are currently waiting or (unfortunately) did not receive an organ in time.

I was blessed with a heart from an amazing donor hero almost 11 years ago (4/20/2015). I'm here today because of the Gift.

April 7 is green shirt day. For those of you who don’t know green shirt day is all about raising awareness for organ donation and transplantation. It marks the anniversary of the Humboldt bus crash (a bus carrying hockey players from Humboldt Saskatchewan) and the Logan Boulet effect, which marks the greatest surge in organ donor signups in Canada. Every year to honour Logan, those who lost their lives in the crash, and organ donors and recipients everywhere, we wear green on April 7th. We’d love for you to join us! Green Shirt Day

April 7 is Green Shirt Day, which originated here in Canada, and I wanted to share this incredible day, and organization, with you in case you haven't heard of it yet!

Green Shirt Day was started in honour of the Humboldt bus crash and the Logan Boulet effect and is for organ donation registration and awareness.

On April 6, a bus of hockey players from Humboldt, Saskatchewan crashed, killing 16 of its 29 passengers. On April 7, the organs of some of the members of this team were donated, saving a number of lives and starting the biggest influx of organ donation sign ups across Canada.

On April 7 of every year, we wear green in honour of Logan, the members of the Humboldt Broncos who lost their lives, and organ donors and recipients everywhere.

I'll be wearing my green shirt on the 7th, and I'd love it if you would join me. Take a photo in your green, drop it here and let's mark this special day together.
